Classic Dolomites Traverse — Our guided hut-to-hut hike across the Dolomites is an unforgettable collection of quaint villages, comfortable huts, and rugged landscapes.
The Dolomites are gorgeous, with sheer pink and yellow limestone pinnacles that tower like monuments over quaint villages, flowery meadows, wooded valleys, and sun-soaked trails. Italian, Austrian, and ancient Ladin cultures intermingle peacefully in the small, scattered villages in this mountainous corner of Italy. The Dolomites also boast a surprising variety of beautiful wildflowers in the grassy meadows below the mountains. This inn-to-inn tour starts with a traverse of the Val Gardena, our favorite corners of the Dolomites, before venturing east through the Badia valley to the soaring rock towers that surround Cortina d’Ampezzo. See full details for the Dolomites Traverse portion of the tour here.

The Engadine Express — Combining dayhikes with a superb 2-day inn-to-inn trek, this tour explores the rustic, preserved beauty of Switzerland’s Engadine region.
On July 1 you’ll travel from Bolzano to Guarda for the start of this combo tour that explores the rustic, preserved beauty of Switzerland’s Engadine region. On this tour, we’ve combined dayhikes from our favorite village bases with a superb 2 day inn-to-inn trek to a high mountain hut. You’ll start with 2 nights in relatively unknown Guarda, Switzerland’s prettiest village, set in the quiet, traditional Engadine valley. It’s a stunningly preserved village with beautifully etched floral decorations on its homes, a strong Romansh culture, and of course, great mountain scenery. Then you’ll move on to the Upper Engadine region for a night in Sils Maria, one night in a high alpine club hut, and 2 nights in Pontresina. Unforgettable lakes, lush valleys, and rugged glaciers provide a huge diversity of wonderful hikes. The standard tour includes 5 nights in 3-star hotels and 1 night in a mountain hut. See full Engadine Express details here
After breakfast in Pontresina you’ll leave this group and head to Lucerne by train for the evening.
Classic Bernese Oberland Traverse — This tour covers the most scenic and challenging sections of the Alpine Pass Route across the Bernese Oberland, our home region in Switzerland…
This route, which is also known as the via alpina, was recently named the “World’s best hike” by Backpacker magazine, and we agree! Our tour differs from other tours of the Bernese Oberland by adding a couple of memorable detours to areas that should not be missed. This tour is a beautiful collection of supreme alpine scenery, remote inns, and quiet trails. On our inn-to-inn tours we’ll move to a new location nearly every day, crossing many passes, and we’ll stay in a combination of 3-star village hotels and traditional country inns, where you’ll have a private room with bathroom down the hall. We’ll have two nights without our luggage when we will need to carry just a few extra things, and on other days we’ll send the luggage ahead, so you can hike with the freedom of a small daypack. See full Bernese Oberland details here.
After breakfast in the Gasterntal Valley, you’ll catch a train from Kandersteg to Chamonix for the start of the Classic Tour du Mont Blanc. Chamonix is a hotspot for European alpinism, and makes a great place to unwind and gear up for the next leg of your journey.

On July 30, after your last night in Chamonix you’ll head back over the border into Switzerland and prepare for the home stretch–The Classic Hiker’s Haute Route Express.
July 31-August 9
The Classic Hiker’s Haute Route Express — Our Swiss variation on the Hiker’s Haute Route tour links Verbier to Zermatt via a spectacular series of trails with high passes, quiet trails, and stunning views.
The Swiss Hiker’s Haute Route consists of a spectacular series of trails linking Verbier to Zermatt, marked by high, steep passes, quiet trails, and stunning mountain scenery. While the full Hiker’s Haute Route from Chamonix is a long and strenuous tour, we’ve designed this tour as a shorter option, skipping 2 of the stages shared with the TMB, and starting in the sunny Swiss resort village of Verbier instead. The Haute Route is one of the world’s classic hikes, crossing rugged terrain, with a wild beauty deserving of its name.
Your tour will meet in Verbier, Switzerland, a sunny mountain village with gorgeous views to the Grand Combin towering over the Bagnes valley. After a night here, our hut-to-hut adventure leads up to the Louvie hut, and crosses the first of several passes as we hike towards Zermatt. This is one of our most strenuous and remote tours, with high passes every day. We’ll hike through Arolla and Zinal – small villages where we can resupply fresh clothes from our luggage, and will spend 3 nights in remote huts. Once we reach Zematt at the end of the tour, a second night in Zermatt gives us a chance to truly appreciate the beauty of the Matterhorn and this special region. If you like strenuous hiking and love high mountain scenery, the Swiss Haute Route tour offers the ultimate exploration of one of the most dramatic hiking routes in the Alps. See full Haute Route details here.
Departure — Today marks the end of your journey, you’ll head off to your post-tour destination for some well-deserved rest and relaxation!
