Day 2
Chamonix
After a fabulous breakfast buffet, we gather for our first hike. One of the classic hikes in the region takes us to Lac Blanc, high above the village. This is a popular walk, but incredibly scenic and worth the effort. We’ll take a lesser-used trail past the Cheserys lakes up to the hut at Lac Blanc.
This high-mountain lake sits in the Aiguilles Rouges, across the valley from Mont Blanc, and commands one of the greatest mountain views anywhere. After a stop for lunch, we’ll make good use of local cable cars to speed the way down. Return to Chamonix for a 2nd night.

After a hearty breakfast at your hotel, your Mont Blanc circuit starts with a cable car above the scenic Voza pass to the lovely Bionnassay valley, a wooded region with impressive glaciers and waterfalls, and capped by blinding peaks.
Stop at a quaint mountain restaurant for lunch as you walk through Miage valley, mountains soaring above you, a spot that practically begs one to linger. When it is time to go, a wooded descent leads to the quaint village of les Contamines, where you’ll stay in a comfortable 3-star hotel. We love the quiet atmosphere of this beautiful valley.

Day 4
Landry
Today the Tour du Mont Blanc route continues on a long ascent across two lofty passes, Col du Bonhomme and Col de la Croix du Bonhomme. Slow and steady… it’s a big day, but not too bad, and with plenty to see along the way.
An alpine hut near the pass makes a perfect lunch stop mid-day. Afterwards, we’ll descend to the tiny hamlet of les Chapieux. From here, we transfer to the nearby village of Landry and a 3-star hotel for the night.

Day 5
Courmayeur
We’ll hike past Ville des Glaciers, a small farm farther up the valley, and up to the farthest reaches of this quiet valley. A gradual ascent through summer alp pastures leads steadily up to the Col de la Seigne and the French-Italian border.
At the pass, you’re greeted by an amazing view into the Veny valley and the Mont Blanc range. The Aiguille Noire de Peuterey is particularly impressive from this vantage point, and Mont Blanc itself dominates the view ahead of you. We’ll stop at the scenic Elisabetta hut for lunch, glaciers tumbling behind us, and continue down valley with a short transfer to Entreves, near the medieval village of Courmayeur, where we stay in 5-star luxury.

Day 6
Courmayeur
A second day in Courmayeur is a great way to break up the Deluxe Tour du Mont Blanc, offering a chance to either rest or take an optional dayhike high above town. Our favorite hike from Courmayeur is an extremely scenic balcony route to Bonatti hut. The views along this route are some of the most mind-blowing of the whole tour.
If you don’t want to hike though, there is plenty to do in town. The Pre St. Didier spa is one luxurious way to recharge, and our hotel also has a very nice pool and spa. Courmayeur is a great village to explore, with cobblestoned pedestrian-only alleyways filled with comfortable cafes and stylish shops. Stay in the same luxury hotel a second night.

The ascent is steady and straightforward, with plenty of opportunity to stop and enjoy the views back to Mont Blanc and the Grandes Jorasses mountains, as well as the beautiful glaciers toward the end of the valley. After reaching the pass, we’ll descend to the tidy Swiss village of la Fouly, another beautiful and quiet corner of teh TMB.

Day 9
Chamonix
Today we’ll have our choice of an easier hike or a more strenuous route. The easier route from Champex is an undulating trail through alpine pastures and pine forests, with a mid-day stop at an alpine farm with sweeping views of the Rhone valley.
Weather permitting, a more rigorous possibility leads up to the high pass of Fenetre d’Arpette, one of the highest points along the tour with dazzling views of the Trient glacier on the descent. Finish the day at the Col de la Forclaz restaurant, perhaps with time for a drink on their spacious outdoor terrace. After the hike, we’ll make a quick transfer back to our luxurious hotel in Chamonix (our July tour finishes at Hameau Albert, August tour at Heliopic).
HIKE: 6-8 hours, 9 miles; Elevation: 2460 ft up, 2260 ft down (Bovine) or 7-9 hours, 9.5 miles; Elevation: 3940 ft up, 3740 ft down (Fenetre d’Arpette)
