Inn-to-inn hiking in the Alps is a dream trip. If you're looking for adventure, hiking to a new valley every day, an inn-to-inn tour is for you.
On an inn-to-inn tour, you’ll move often and will cover a large area. Most nights will be spent in comfortable village hotels with all the amenities, but many will be in remote huts and mountain inns.
This is the dream trip… hike all day, and arrive to a cozy Berghaus, a small hiker’s inn, with a private room and the sound of cowbells drifting in your window. Then do it again. The next night, you might be in a village hotel, or an alpine club hut – typically simpler and higher up on a mountaintop or a rocky pass, always spectacular.
Inn-to-inn tours are active, crossing a mountain pass on most days. Some tours have more moderate options, but generally, these trips are for people who want to get up and go.
Remote inns, memorable stops. You’ll cover a lot of ground, and we will make it easy. Hotels are booked, and luggage transfers are always included, so you can simply hike and enjoy.
On on inn-to-inn tour, you will be hiking to a new location most nights. Sometimes you’ll be staying in a 3-star, or even 4 or 5-star hotel, other nights you’ll be in a cozy mountain inn or a high alpine hut. On thing’s for sure… you’ll be moving often and seeing a lot. Be ready for an adventure!
Whether you are hiking on a guided tour or going self-guided, we’re going to make it simple for you. We’ve found our favorite hotels and inns, where you will be welcomed like family. We include luggage transfers so you can hike with just a small overnight bag and catch up to your luggage later. Our classic tours usually include a few nights in remote inns where luggage transport is not possible, but our deluxe tours include luggage all nights.
We spend every summer in the Alps ourselves. This is what we do, and we’re constantly updating our notes to let you know what’s new, what’s changed, what’s worth seeing, and what can be skipped. We include easier options if you want to take a day off, and optional detours for those big, epic days. Every day brings something new, and it’s all worth seeing.
I was sad to leave. Of all the wonderful aspects of the trip, the flawless logistics, breathtaking scenery, awesome trails, and great food, I was most taken by the kindness and warmth of the innkeepers and hotel staff. I am grateful for the relationships Alpinehikers has established with them over the years; we were always welcomed and felt right at home with each new place. A truly wonderful experience for a mother and son to enjoy together, I can’t wait to take another trip with Alpinehikers.
